Consumer-Based Income Streams
The consumer-based category is comprised of cash flows in
which the party that owes payments is a consumer, a private
individual. The party receiving payments can be a business
or an individual. Consumer-based income streams may be
current or, in some cases, may be delinquent. The primary
reason clients sell these types of income streams is to
remove the responsibility of collections from their
business.
The majority of consumer-based transactions involve the sale
of not just one income stream, but a portfolio of consumer
debt (e.g., a portfolio of health club memberships). Because
